Dear Dot Kiwi,

This is a unique way to promote New Zealand and a simple link for expats to stay connected.

The very best of luck with the initiative.

I think .kiwi will be good for NZ because Kiwis are a very loyal group who take enormous pride in their country and culture. Many professional Kiwis live abroad and this is a way to show our deep connection to our country no matter where we live.

I prefer a .kiwi domain name, because although we’re often nomadic, adventuring around the world exploring every corner, our hearts remain firmly in New Zealand and a .kiwi domain name is a way for those of us professionals living abroad to wave our flag with pride.

Christchurch has undergone incredible devastation to the infrastructure of the city and it would be easy to give up and leave. But Cantabrians are a hardy lot and we need to show them our support in their choice to stay and rebuild one of NZ’s finest cities.

When I discovered that it may soon be possible to have a .kiwi domain name I was SUPER excited! The Kiwi term is known internationally to represent New Zealand so to have a .Kiwi domain would immediately make New Zealand stand out on a greater global scale for all those who own one. I’m a proud Kiwi so to be able to brand myself and my business with a .kiwi domain would increase the pride I already feel – not only to represent myself globally but to increase New Zealands profile globally each time someone views my domain and all the while supporting a great cause to assist those so affected by the Christchurch earthquakes. A totally brilliant initiative that I support wholeheartedly!!

Warm regards,

I think having “.kiwi” would be good for New Zealand because it is catchy.  It is a clear identity.  New Zealanders would identify with it.  It would be a travesty for such a domain name not to have a strong and ethical NZ ownership and identity.
I would prefer a “.kiwi” domain name because it is a statement of identity and values.

I think Christchurch needs initiatives like Dot Kiwi because Christchurch needs every help it can get.  The advantage of the .kiwi domain name helping Christchurch is that it reinforces a message that it is for ALL New Zealanders wherever situated to help Christchurch and not just for Christchurch or the government to do so.

Do I think “.kiwi” will improve the Internet for New Zealand? I am not sure if it will or not – far too technical a question – but it won’t hurt.  It may promote more interest in NZ and that alone would be good.

Dear dot Kiwi,

I am an expat from Banks Peninsula, living and working in Baku, Azerbaijan.

Our BP property was not badly damaged in the earthquakes but we have friends in ChCh and Ellesmere who suffered and any initiative to help them will get our support.

We will return from overseas in a year or so and plan to set up a website to promote our fledgling business. No matter where we go the merchants certainly know – and love – “Kiwi”. Having a dot Kiwi domain name will undoubtedly inform the world that we are NZ’ers and enhance our business project.
